Basic information for foreign students

e-Študentski Servis (e-Student Service) is an employment agency that mediates temporary and part-time work to high-school and university students.

Our agency specializes in providing temporary student work.

We help and advise:

  • employers in finding suitable candidates by enabling them to post job ads on our web page.

  • students in finding work experience - all current job posts can be found on our web page.

You can simply enroll online or in person in one of our offices.

What do you need for registering:

  • Identity document (passport or ID);

  • Your bank account number (only EU banks like N26, Revoult ...);

  • Uniform citizen identification number (EMŠO), which starts with your birth date;

  • Slovenian tax ID number (issued by tax administration office anywhere in Slovenia);

  • If you will be enrolled in a faculty or higher education institution in Slovenia in the current school year, we will automatically renew your status (we will obtain the information from the Unified Register of Enrolments), so you do not need to send/attach proof of your status.

  • Based on the completed statement, you will receive further instructions. In case you opt to define yourself as a resident, we will need further documents, which can be obtain from Financial Office of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS).

  • If you are a non-resident and planning a long-term stay in Slovenia, you must regularise your residency status. More information.

You can work via Student Service if:

  • you have a student status in Slovenia,
  • if you are a foreign citizen and you study in Slovenia or
  • if you're taking an internship or study as a part of international exchange programs in Slovenia.
  • Foreign students enrolled in educational institutions abroad. For all third-country nationals a proof of permanent residence in Slovenia is required.

In order to receive your payments you need to open Slovenian or EU account.

We recommend that you open a bank account online at N26 or Revoult.

Uniform citizen identification number (EMŠO) is a personal identification number, which starts with your birth date. EMŠO is indicated on the residence permit of the Republic of Slovenia.

Tax ID number must be held by every taxpayer and is used in relation to all taxes. It consists of eight numbers. Information on the allocation of the tax number for foreigners.

You get the decision at the nearest administrative unit. More information can be found here.

At the office you fill out a questionnaire and you receive a decision to your home within 14 days, in some cases you'll have to wait 3 months.

When you receive a decision, inform us and you receive a payment in the entire amount without deductible income tax (13,95% for ZPIZ will still be deducted).

''My experience'' is a digital document, accessible to all high school and college students of the e-Student Service.

It is a way for high school and college students to quickly record their skills and knowledge acquired through student work. Every job comes listed with the employer, the number of working hours and the basic competences acquired through work via the e-Student Service. Then you also have the opportunity to mark additional competences or knowledge that you have acquired in your assessment during the performance of your work.

Work experience is being recorded since 2005. You can also export the ''My experience'' document into an English PDF file.

  • As long as you are a high school student or a college student.

  • Until the age of 26, if you are studying as an adult learner – equivalent to a high school student.

  • If you obtain a Bachelor's degree under the Bologna system, you have the status until the end of the academic year in which you have completed your studies.

  • If you obtain a Master's degree under the Bologna system, you have the status until the end of the academic year in which you have completed your studies.
